Job summary

CDM Smith, a leading engineering firm, seeks an Entry Project Controls Specialist to join our Project Controls Team. You will help ensure on-schedule, on-budget project performance and partner with project managers and teams to provide visibility and insights.

The role involves developing forecasts, monitoring costs, producing status reports, and applying Earned Value Management to projects of basic complexity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required; 0 years experience noted, with potential for equivalence
• Entry knowledge of project management methodology including budget development, project planning, control and assurance methodologies, and finance and accounting concepts and practices.
• Good teamwork and collaboration skills and an ability to work well in fast paced environments requiring daily shifting of priorities.
• Demonstrates good written and verbal communication skills and the ability to interact with varying levels of staff, as well as vendors.
• Entry knowledge of Enterprise Project Portfolio Management tools (Primavera).
• Basic knowledge of Project Performance tools (EcoSys).
• Good interpersonal and presentation skills for interacting with team members and clients.
• Ability to deal with many people, and process a variety of requests as necessary.
• Good computer skills including proficiency in MS Word and Excel; organizational skills to balance and prioritize work.

Responsibilities

• Support compliance with internal procedures and gather progress information to update and monitor the project of basic complexity.
• Develop time-phased project cost and resource forecasts; validates project costs; updates requirements as required.
• Monitors progress of project deliverables and performs routine analyses and may prepare routine financial reports.
• Uses document management protocols to store and retrieve project documentation.
• Under direct supervision, develops, maintains, and analyzes integrated critical path schedules for portions of routine projects.
• Generates and analyzes earned value reports and discusses observations with supervisor and project manager.
