Job summary

Aalyria is seeking an Embedded Controls Engineer to design, implement, test, and field real-time closed-loop control for high-throughput atmospheric laser communications. You will work with a multi-disciplinary team to turn candidate methods into robust embedded implementations, and help bring a Free Space Optical Communications terminal from prototype to production.

Qualifications

• Degree in EE, controls, CS, physics, or related field.
• 3+ years developing real-time, closed-loop embedded control systems.
• Strong MATLAB/Simulink for design, analysis, and simulation.
• Convert control laws and DSP into embedded C and debug on real hardware.
• Hardware bring-up: instrumentation, test, data acquisition, troubleshooting.
• Works at the seam of algorithms, hardware and software in a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Implement wavefront-correction control laws and DSP algorithms as low-latency embedded C.
• Design and build lab testbeds and data acquisition for loop bandwidth and performance.
• Reduce loop latency and improve uptime of the control subsystem.
• Develop control, monitoring, and telemetry software through full lifecycle.
• Support transition of prototype/test infrastructure to manufacturing.
• Collaborate with optical, mechanical, electrical, and software engineers.
