Job summary

Alstom in West Mifflin, PA (Pittsburgh area) is seeking a full-time hybrid Electrical Engineer to join our team developing test equipment and software for propulsion and train-control systems. You’ll collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and quality teams to apply testing standards during product development.

The ideal candidate has at least five years in test equipment design, experience with LabVIEW or C, and familiarity with high voltage testing, debugging test benches, and safety

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience in Test Equipment design, including developing test software and hardware for electronics systems.
• Knowledge of high power and high voltage testing.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office tools (Excel and Word), cable modeling software, simulation software, and PLM tools.
• Strong communication skills for collaborating with cross-functional teams and providing customer training.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as LabVIEW or C for test software development.
• Ability to troubleshoot and debug test benches, electronic modules, and components.
• Knowledge of safety principles for working with high-voltage and low-voltage equipment.
• Travel up to 10% to support deployment and customer site activities.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain test tools and benches such as In-Circuit, JTAG, and functional test benches.
• Program test software in LabVIEW or C and develop test bench structures.
• Ensure testing standards during product development and optimize productivity and test coverage.
• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, purchasing, and quality teams.
• Support tender quotations for bench test projects.
• Define software, hardware, and mechanical architecture for automated test benches in compliance with standards.
