Job summary

Xcel Energy Inc is seeking a Distribution Planning Engineer to develop near- and mid-term distribution plans ensuring safe, reliable electric service. You will perform power flow studies, hosting capacity assessments, and load forecasting while coordinating with account management, regulatory teams, and other groups.

The role includes developing execution plans for capacity expansions, evaluating non-wires solutions, and supporting regulatory filings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from ABET-accredited curriculum is required.
• EIT/FE certification is strongly preferred.
• Other levels may require PE registration depending on business need.

Responsibilities

• Uses and applies technical standards to assignments of limited scope.
• Supports development of technical documentation and procedures.
• Provides ongoing technical support for project activities within Operations, Maintenance, Testing/diagnostics, Regulatory, etc.
• Coordinates or leads projects or portions of projects under direction of a higher level engineer.
• Assists with bid/evaluation analyses and communications with other business areas.
