The Hazardous Waste Management Program of King County is seeking a Digital Communications Specialist to expand digital reach, tell engaging public health and environmental stories, and improve online experiences for residents and businesses.

You will lead website and social media management, produce written and visual content, interview community members, and collaborate with partners to ensure accessible, accurate, and inclusive messaging across channels.

Qualifications

• Digital Communications Management: Directly manage, maintain, and improve public-facing websites and social media.
• Writing and editing: Translate technical information into clear, accessible communications.
• Digital storytelling: Identify stories, conduct interviews, and produce multimedia content.
• Audience engagement and analytics: Use audience research, feedback, and analytics to improve digital communications.
• Project coordination: Plan and deliver multi-step communications projects with multiple contributors.

Responsabilités

• Manage and enhance the Program's website and social media channels to increase visibility, engagement, and access to services.
• Develop digital campaigns aligned to audience needs and organizational priorities.
• Use audience data to reach underserved audiences.
• Create written and visual content including website articles, posts, news releases, fact sheets, talking points, and outreach materials.
• Identify stories highlighting the Program's services, employees, partners, and community impact.
• Interview people and capture photography and video at facilities, events, and community locations; produce aerial footage with drone after certification.
• Coordinate communications with staff, subject-matter experts, community organizations, and regional partners; support internal communications; guide digital practices.
• Analyze website traffic, search performance, social media engagement, and campaign results; improve content and online experiences; ensure accessibility and inclusivity.
