University of Virginia’s Demographics Research Group is seeking a Research Specialist to support demographic data production and research on Virginia populations. You will collaborate with senior researchers on estimates, projections, and school demographics, and contribute to external contract projects and dissemination efforts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in demography, education, sociology, urban planning, public policy, economics, or related field.
• Master’s degree preferred and GIS / spatial data experience is desirable.
• Experience with demographic data production and applied data analysis is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Support demographic data production and research with Virginia population estimates, projections, and school demographics.
• Contribute to external contract projects under project leads, handling data collection, analysis, and reporting.
• Assist with dissemination of findings via presentations, publications, and web content.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
