Job summary

ECS Federal LLC seeks a Data Engineer to support CBP data pipelines in a hybrid capacity with at least three days onsite at our Fairfax, VA office and/or Ashburn, VA site. The role delivers reliable, analytics-ready data to operators and mission partners.

You will build and operate data flows using Airflow, AWS Glue, Spark, and Kafka; perform quality checks and metadata tagging; collaborate across teams to maintain documentation and performance metrics.

Qualifications

• Requires US citizenship and ability to obtain Public Trust clearance.
• Bachelor's degree in STEM; data engineering or CS preferred.
• 3+ years in data engineering, ETL, or cloud data platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Working knowledge of Python and/or SQL, with familiarity with data orchestration tools such as Airflow, Spark, or AWS Glue.
• Strong teaming and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Configure data pipelines and ETL workflows using Airflow, AWS Glue, Spark, and Kafka.
• Prepare data including schema mapping and format conversions for bronze to gold tiers.
• Perform baseline quality checks and drift monitoring on lake environments.
• Support cybersecurity requirements for operational data handling.
• Assist with log review, triage, and remediation for data ingestion failures.
• Update documentation in SharePoint, Confluence, and GitLab.
• Track data freshness and pipeline performance for decision making.
