Job summary

GreatAmerica is seeking a seasoned Data Architect to design and deliver scalable data infrastructure across on-premises and hybrid cloud environments. You will shape enterprise data architecture, govern data quality and security, and lead modernization initiatives while mentoring teammates and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• 7+ years of experience in data architecture or related roles.
• Experience with cloud-based data architectures, transactional and analytical systems, data modeling, data integration tools, and BI concepts.
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Proven experience designing enterprise-scale data warehouses and data lakes.
• Expertise with Microsoft Azure services (Azure Data Factory, Synapse, Databricks, ADLS).

Responsibilities

• Develop conceptual, logical, and physical data models.
• Design scalable enterprise data architectures for current and future needs.
• Build real-time and batch data pipelines using modern integration tools and cloud services.
• Design and implement ETL/ELT processes for reliable data movement.
• Integrate diverse data sources using standardized patterns.
• Document and enforce architecture standards.
• Define data governance, quality, security, and compliance frameworks.
• Create documentation of architectural decisions and patterns.
• Implement data protection strategies including access controls and privacy measures.
• Ensure architectures align with regulatory requirements and internal standards.
• Evaluate emerging technologies to improve data management and platform capabilities.
• Architect and optimize cloud-native solutions leveraging Azure services.
• Lead modernization initiatives and migrations to cloud-based platforms.
• Support scalability, performance tuning, and cost optimization.
• Collaborate with DevOps, Analytics, Data Governance, and other teams to operationalize solutions.
• Mentor team members and promote best practices across the data organization.
• Partner with architects to maintain enterprise alignment with data standards.
