Job summary

The University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School is seeking an Associate Data Analyst in Graduate Student Affairs in Philadelphia, PA. This hybrid role supports data collection, validation, and processing to inform strategic initiatives.

You will report to the Director of Evaluation & Selection and collaborate with a Data Scientist and a Lead Data Analyst to maintain data quality, develop a data codebook, and automate scripts in Python, R, SQL, and Excel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree and 2–3 years of experience or equivalent.
• Strong attention to detail with data integrity and quality.
• Ability to translate technical concepts for multiple audiences.
• Understanding of FERPA parameters and data governance.

Responsibilities

• Improve data collection methods and study design, survey administration, and data management processes.
• Validate datasets for completeness, accuracy, consistency and integrity; resolve discrepancies.
• Develop and maintain data documentation including a data codebook and metadata.
• Execute and monitor data workflows using Python, R, SQL, and other scripts.
• Process, transform, and prepare data for analysis.
• Assist with analysis, interpretation, and reporting for program evaluation.
• Collaborate with cross-office staff to collect and coordinate data for projects.
• Coordinate project timelines to meet milestones and deadlines.
• Communicate quantitative/technical concepts to senior management and train colleagues.
• Work independently and in teams across multiple projects.
