Job summary

Selectek, Inc. seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer to lead new product development and improvements, coordinating across sales, engineering, supply chain, and manufacturing.

You will develop designs, drawings, and documentation while guiding cross-location engineering efforts as a technical expert. The role emphasizes producing manufacturable designs, maintaining BOMs, and supporting prototyping, testing, and certifications in a hybrid, multi-location environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology.
• 5-7+ years of product design experience, preferably with sheet metal products.
• Proficiency with Creo or similar solid modeling software (critical).
• Working knowledge of SolidWorks (preferred).
• Familiarity with Revit/BIM software (ideal).
• Strong understanding of drafting practices, including dimensioning, tolerances, and weld callouts.
• Knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, material strengths, and failure analysis.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated safety leadership.
• Ability to work independently and within a lean engineering team in a fast paced environment with evolving priorities.

Responsibilities

• Create, update, and maintain manufacturing drawings based on current standards.
• Provide design and drawing support for custom or modified standard products.
• Ensure accurate Bills of Material and complete product documentation.
• Lead projects to deliver final product designs that meet customer specifications.
• Provide engineering input to improve product features, manufacturability, and internal processes.
• Support R&D by transforming customer needs into producible solutions.
• Identify VA/VE opportunities.
• Partner with manufacturing to align with design intent and ensure drawings are interpretable.
• Assist with product testing, certification processes, and inspections.
