Job description

Botics designs and builds custom automation systems for manufacturers. Our solutions include robotic cells, custom machinery, tooling, electrical control systems, and software that power modern factories.

We are an Authorized FANUC System Integrator, a member of A3 (Association for Advancing Automation), and a certified UL508A Panel Shop.

Role Description

This is a full-time hybrid role (primarily remote) for a Controls Engineer based in the Roseville, MI area. The position focuses on the design, quoting, programming, and implementation of electrical control systems for industrial automation projects.

The Electrical Controls Engineer will be responsible for:

  • Designing and developing electrical control systems and power distribution
  • Programming FANUC and ABB robots for various applications
  • Programming PLCs and HMIs for automated systems
  • Supporting UL508A control panel design and compliance
  • Ensuring systems meet NFPA79 and applicable safety standards
  • Troubleshooting and commissioning automation equipment
  • Collaborating with mechanical, controls, and customer teams
  • Performing quality assurance and documentation reviews

This role is primarily remote, with occasional on-site work for commissioning, customer meetings, and internal collaboration.

Qualifications Required

  • Proficiency in Electrical Design and Electrical Engineering
  • Strong knowledge of industrial control panels and power distribution
  • Experience programming PLCs (Allen-Bradley preferred)
  • Working knowledge of UL508A and NFPA79 standards
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Familiarity with industrial safety and regulatory requirements
  • Excellent project management and teamwork abilities

Preferred

  • Experience in industrial automation or machine building
  • Experience with FANUC robots or robotic integration
  • Field commissioning experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience)
