Job summary

Berkshire Hathaway GUARD Insurance Companies in New York seeks a Complex Liability Adjuster to handle CGL and BOP claims in NY, including litigated files. The hybrid schedule offers 2 days remote and 3 in-office, with predictable hours and competitive pay.

Responsibilities include investigating claims, reviewing evidence, interviewing parties, coordinating with defense counsel, managing CGL and BOP files, and maintaining documentation; licensing support is provided.

Qualifications

• Experience handling Commercial General Liability claims in New York, including litigated claims.
• JD preferred, or bachelor’s degree with experience adjusting liability claims.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Organizational skills and ability to manage multiple claims.
• Experience using claims systems and standard business tools.
• Licensing: active adjuster license or ability to obtain and maintain state licenses; company supports licensing.

Responsibilities

• Investigate New York liability claims and determine coverage and liability.
• Review evidence, reports, and medical records to evaluate damages and set reserves.
• Interview insureds, claimants, and witnesses.
• Work with defense counsel and legal teams to manage litigated claims.
• Manage CGL and BOP claims, including coordination with counsel and case progression.
• Process indemnity and expense payments.
• Maintain accurate claim documentation and support claim resolution.
