Job summary

Seyfarth Shaw LLP is seeking a real estate paralegal to assist attorneys in commercial real estate transactions, including documentation, due diligence, closing and post-closing activities for acquisitions, dispositions, and leasing. You will be part of the firm’s Real Estate department, reporting to the attorneys on your team.

On a day-to-day basis you will order and review title commitments, prepare and negotiate title policies, coordinate closings, and handle post-closing requirements.

Qualifications

• 4+ years in commercial real estate transactions (acquisitions, dispositions, leasing).
• Bachelor’s degree or paralegal certificate or equivalent experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Legal research skills and knowledge of databases.
• Strong writing, organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Order and review title commitments, documents and surveys, interfacing with title company and surveyor.
• Prepare title objection letters and negotiate title policies.
• Prepare and administer contract dates and closing checklists.
• Coordinate and assist with closings, including conveyance documents and closing statements.
• Handle post-closing tasks: closing indices, binders, and post-closing deliveries.
• Prepare clear correspondence and memoranda.
• Draft initial documents, amendments, estoppel certificates, SNDAs, and leases for attorney review.
• Review organizational and authority documents.
• Order UCC Lien and other searches.
