Job summary

Generation Hope is seeking a Clinical Mental Health Intern to support the Mental Health program with workshops and groups, in a hybrid schedule requiring two office days per week in DC. The role involves direct services, documentation, outreach, and creating resources, with supervision from a licensed professional.

Ideal candidates are graduate students in clinical mental health counseling programs, available Jan 2027–Dec 2027, with 20+ hours weekly and weekend flexibility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in human services or related field; pursuing a master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling.
• Must meet practicum/internship requirements for a master’s degree in counseling.
• Commitment to understanding and dismantling systemic racism.
• Willingness to adjust hours to accommodate Scholars.
• Spanish-speaking is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide supervised direct services to Scholars and their families per individualized plans.
• Maintain SOAP notes and other clinical documentation such as treatment plans and assessments.
• Assist in facilitating the non-crisis mental health text line for Scholars.
• Track indirect and direct hours on a consistent basis.
• Engage in outreach initiatives linking the program with DC metro resources.
• Create mental health materials and communications for newsletters and workshops.
• Assist in organizing psychoeducation presentations and therapy workbooks/packets.
