Job summary

Bowman Consulting in Washington, D.C. is seeking a Civil Engineer III to join our growing team. The role involves leading complex civil design and coordinating with clients, agencies, and design teams on land development projects.

You will apply advanced civil engineering techniques, supervise staff, and develop permits, plans, and reports. A PE license is preferred and a 5+ year track record in land development is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related field required at time of hire.
• Professional Engineer license preferred.
• Five or more (5+) years experience in the land development industry.
• Land Development engineering experience and skills; large- and small-scale drainage and BMP design preferred.
• Experience with Civil3D and related software in professional or academic settings.
• Proficiency with reading construction plans and standard civil design practices.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil3D, AES, CIVILD, WSPGW, PCSWMM, StormCAD, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS preferred.
• Proficient with Storm Drain Modeling and Rational Method Hydrologic Calculations.

Responsibilities

• Review zoning regulations and apply advanced civil engineering techniques in project work.
• Assist project teams with permits for land development projects.
• Conceptualize initial civil design approaches for land/site development.
• Lead technical direction over junior engineers and provide guidance.
• Coordinate with clients, sub-consultants, and design teams on complex issues.
• Prepare reports, specifications, and submittal documents.
• Conduct field investigations and constructability reviews as needed.
• Manage multiple projects and timelines with internal and external stakeholders.
