Job summary

University of California Agriculture and Natural Resources seeks a Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) to guide its information security program. Qualifications

• 3-5 years of progressive information security leadership with 2-4 years hands-on work (incident response, vulnerability management, secure architecture)
• Broad knowledge of information technology security areas and how they relate to research, finance, and IT resources
• Demonstrated understanding of privacy and security regulations in higher education
• Demonstrated management of IT security and privacy matters across location departments
• Strong communication with technical and non-technical audiences
• Experience leading change management activities and managing impact

Responsibilities

• Lead the IT security team; hands-on threat hunting, detection, vulnerability management, incident triage and remediation.
• Ensure UC ANR-wide security policies align with UC-wide mandates and standards.
• Provide guidance to CIO, CRE, and senior leadership on threats and investments; represent UC ANR on security councils.
• Assist in administering the security program budget and evaluate security vendors and services.
