Job summary

Lone Star Wind Orchestra seeks a Director of Development/Chief Development Officer to lead fundraising and donor relations. The role/update donor database, coordinate campaigns, and prepare grant requests to sustain an annual fundraising budget around four hundred thousand dollars.

The position reports to the Board Executive Committee, collaborates with the Chair and Director of Artistic Operations, and works in a hybrid setting with periodic in-office tasks.

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree is required; master’s degree (MBA or MAM) is a plus.
• Minimum of 3+ years of work experience with Major Donor Cultivation, philanthropy management and Grant Proposal Writing in a non-profit arts/orchestra setting.
• Outstanding leadership, organizational, interpersonal and team-building skills are essential; strong grant writing track record.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to tailor messaging to audiences.
• Excellent financial management and budgeting skills; proficient with Microsoft Office; familiarity with CRM software.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute three major fundraising campaigns annually (e.g., North Texas Giving Day, Give a Gift—Change a Life, Music Changing Lives).
• Prepare and submit grant applications and reports to foundations, organizations, corporations, and government agencies.
• Create a robust Sponsorship Program targeting institutions and businesses.
• Support fundraising activities with donors, corporate sponsors, events, and donor cultivation efforts.
• Oversee development budgets and ensure governance of contributions and donor recognition.
