The Opportunity:

The Hybrid Business Consultant will be responsible for a territory of approximately 4,000 advisors covering business partner firms with John Hancock Investment Management. They will create, develop, and implement programs that help advisors build their business and increase John Hancock Investments' AUM. Using discretion and judgment, they will strategically manage their territory, providing insight, advice, practice management ideas, and product updates to registered representatives. The role requires working knowledge and expertise in mutual funds, ETFs, UCITS, 529 College Savings Plans, Model Portfolios, Private Assets, and Separately Managed Accounts.

Key Accountabilities:
  • Analyze advisor portfolios to identify opportunities and potential issues.
  • Research competitor products, gain proficiency in them, and understand their interaction with client portfolios.
  • Use tools like Morningstar Workstation, Morningstar Advisor Portal, and John Hancock Portfolio Insight for analysis and advice.
  • Communicate with advisors via virtual meetings daily.
  • Travel 4-6 times per year for face-to-face meetings within the territory.
  • Research advisor websites, LinkedIn, and data packs to personalize practice management and business-building solutions.
  • Participate in industry discussions and feedback sessions to enhance knowledge and product expertise.
  • Maintain competitive intelligence by engaging with internal departments and attending meetings.
  • Lead projects to implement new processes and strategies.
  • Mentor new Inside Wholesalers and assist in training the Investments sales desk.
  • Act as a liaison for Fund, Firm, Separate Account, and Marketing matters, supporting department initiatives and management decisions.
Job Requirements:
  • FINRA Series 7 and 63, 65, or 66 licenses required.
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Minimum of 2 years of internal sales/consulting experience in financial services.
  • Knowledge of mutual funds and the financial advisor business model.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Influence others and collaborate within a team.
  • Compliance with SEC’s Pay-to-Play Rule 206(4)-5 regarding political contributions.
