Job summary

Kforce Inc. is seeking a BI Engineer for a contract-to-hire role in the Greater Milwaukee area. The position requires developing data apps, dashboards, and semantic models using Databricks and Power BI, with collaboration across stakeholders to gather needs.

The candidate will participate in Agile agile practices and contribute to data governance, security, and self-service analytics. Hybrid work arrangements in the briefing city are expected, with ongoing learning and AI-enabled analytics

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• 3+ years of experience in BI development, data analytics, or data visualization roles
• Hands-on experience with Power BI, Tableau, or Looker and building dashboards
• Working knowledge of SQL (joins, filters, aggregations, basic CTEs)
• Familiarity with dimensional modeling (star/snowflake) and semantic layers
• Experience with Azure, Snowflake, or Databricks for data transformation/modeling
• Experience in Agile development processes and sprint rituals
• Ability to interpret trends and deliver insights to stakeholders
• Growing business acumen and understanding of analytics impact on decisions

Responsibilities

• Build reports, dashboards, and data apps in Databricks and Power BI to support decisions
• Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and clarify reporting needs
• Design semantic models and datasets that are performant and reusable
• Debug and resolve data/reporting issues with structured investigation
• Participate in sprint planning, estimation, reviews, and retrospectives
• Maintain documentation for models, metrics, and reporting processes
• Enable self-service reporting with curated datasets and clear docs
• Communicate insights, progress, and blockers to cross-functional partners
• Follow best practices for data governance, privacy, and report security
• Grow BI tool expertise and share learnings with the team
• Leverage AI-enabled analytics including Databricks Genie Spaces for NLQ interactions
