About the Opportunity
Under the direction of the Director of Benefits and Compensation, the Senior Benefits Specialist will have primary responsibility for retirement programs, WVU benefit program support, vendor relationship management, and longevity program. This role involves coordinating and administering all aspects of WVU's retirement plans, counseling employees, and supporting benefit administration.

What You'll Do
Design, Research, and Implementation
- Develop strategies for WVU Retirement Benefits Program objectives and implement in coordination with leadership.
- Identify future retirement trends and concerns.
- Research, forecast, and generate reports on retirement data.
- Develop and present educational sessions and enrollment materials.
- Review and verify retirement calculations and data.
- Maintain current and accurate retirement web content.
- Coordinate with vendors to resolve employee questions.
Administer University Retirement Programs
- Serve as primary contact for retirement requirements and processes.
- Coordinate supplemental retirement account activities and communicate IRS changes.
- Provide guidance to employees and participate in committees.
Compliance
- Stay updated on relevant regulations (IRS, ACA, ERISA, HIPAA, FMLA, ADA).
- Ensure compliance and maintain documentation.
- Propose changes based on legal updates.
Vendor Relationship Management
- Collaborate with vendors to ensure effective programs.
- Resolve issues and recommend improvements.
Supporting Other Benefit Programs
- Provide expertise for Years of Service validation.
- Manage longevity payment processes and communications.
- Serve as a resource for benefits programs and support communication and education efforts.
