Job summary

HARMAN Research Intelligent Audio seeks an Audio ML Engineer to advance perceptive audio models for embedded and cloud deployment. You will build learning-based perception systems, define data/evaluation strategies, and collaborate with DSP and product teams to deliver production-ready pipelines.

The role emphasizes strong Python and ML framework skills, deep audio knowledge, and experience with edge or cloud constraints to enable practical product impact.

Qualifications

• MS or PhD in computer science, electrical engineering, statistics, applied machine learning, or related field, or demonstrated equivalent experience.
• At least five years of applied ML research or engineering experience, including two years with audio, speech, acoustics, or related time-series signals.
• Evidence of taking an idea from literature to product-ready prototype with reproducible evaluation and deployment.

Responsibilities

• Advance Audio ML research by applying new findings to business challenges.
• Develop perception models for quality prediction, artifact detection, context classification, and personalization embeddings.
• Define data collection, labeling, and evaluation conditions with objective and perceptual evidence.
• Design models for embedded and cloud deployment; optimize for latency, memory, compute, and power.
• Collaborate with DSP, perceptual, and productization engineers to deliver reference pipelines and acceptance criteria.
• Utilize AI tools to accelerate experimentation, coding, testing, and documentation.
