Job summary

CHEP UK Ltd. seeks an Assistant Plant Manager for our Wilmington, MA site. You will lead daily production, coach supervisors, and ensure safety, quality, and cost targets are met. This role acts as backup to the Plant Manager and requires strong financial acuity and cross-functional collaboration.

You will drive continuous improvement, manage staffing, and coordinate with maintenance and office teams to optimize operations in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Proven leadership experience in a manufacturing, production, or industrial environment.
• Demonstrated success leading supervisors, team leads, and hourly workforces.
• Strong track record of driving accountability and performance within a management team.
• Experience managing production operations, workforce planning, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Ensure occupational health and safety compliance for all employees, contractors, and visitors.
• Oversee machine operability, equipment reliability, and preventative maintenance activities.
• Provide daily direction, coaching, and support to supervisors, team leads, and hourly employees.
• Lead production meetings, communicate priorities, and ensure execution of production plans.
• Monitor performance against safety, quality, productivity, service, and cost metrics.
• Collaborate with Plant Manager to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
