The Office of Research and Graduate Education at West Virginia University is currently accepting applications for a (Hybrid) Assistant Director of HSC Pre Award.
The primary responsibility of the position is to serve as the Assistant Director for HSC Pre/Post-Award, Office of Research and Graduate Education. The Assistant Director leads the pre-award sub-department, making routine to complex decisions, and provides supervisory and daily operational recommendations to the Director. This role is the primary HSC administrative approver for all grant submissions to extramural sponsors, in conjunction with the HSC Director, Pre-/Post-Award, and serves as a liaison with the WVU Office of Sponsored Programs.
This position oversees, plans, directs, and coordinates organizational activities including policy development, daily operations management, and resource stewardship aligned with business objectives. It may include oversight of pre- or post-award functions such as procurement, HR, communications, finance, and office support, requiring operational leadership, creativity, and problem-solving skills. The role significantly impacts personnel, budget, and organizational outcomes, with legal and financial implications.
