Confidential in Cleveland, OH is seeking an Assistant Controller to lead the close, supervise staff accountants, and partner with the Controller to raise accounting standards. You’ll blend hands-on work with process ownership and staff development to keep the close on track.

You’ll influence budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis while strengthening controls and streamlining ERP-driven workflows for scalable finance operations.

Qualifications

• Progressive accounting experience with leadership responsibilities.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and month-end close practices.
• Experience supporting external audits and audits readiness.
• Comfort with ERP systems and advanced Excel workloads.

Responsibilities

• Keep the monthly and annual close on schedule by reviewing entries, accruals, and reconciliations.
• Help prepare and review GAAP-compliant financial statements.
• Lead audit prep, from supporting schedules to auditor questions.
• Strengthen internal controls so processes scale as we grow.
• Guide, coach, and review the work of staff accountants.
• Provide support on budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
• Streamline workflows and optimize accounting systems usage.
• Step in for the Controller on key deliverables when needed.
