Job summary

Octaura in New York City is seeking an AI Engineer to design and build AI-powered backend services and ML workflows. You will implement ML models, data pipelines, and scalable APIs using Java, Spring Boot, Kafka, Redis, and PostgreSQL within production systems.

You will collaborate with product managers, engineers, and data teams to translate business problems into AI solutions, uphold MLOps practices, and contribute to Octaura’s evolving ML architecture.

Qualifications

• 2+ years software engineering experience with Java and Spring Boot
• Experience building event-driven systems using Apache Kafka
• Strong understanding of relational databases (PostgreSQL) and data warehousing (Redshift)
• Hands-on experience with Redis for caching, queuing, or session management
• Solid grasp of distributed systems, REST API design, and microservices architecture
• 2+ years of hands-on experience in AI/ML development using Python

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain production-grade backend services powering AI/ML capabilities
• Develop, train, evaluate, and deploy machine learning models
• Architect and implement Agentic AI systems and integration pipelines
• Build and maintain data pipelines and feature engineering workflows
• Collaborate with data scientists, platform engineers, and product teams
• Implement MLOps practices including model versioning, monitoring, and retraining pipelines
• Stay current with AI/ML landscape (LLMs, RAG, agent frameworks)
• Write clean, testable code and participate in code reviews
