Sharps Medical Waste Services in Houston, TX, is seeking an Accountant to join our Accounting & Finance team. This hybrid role requires three days in the office and two remote days.

You will support month‑end close, reconciliations, and financial analysis across our multi‑location organization, ensuring accurate reporting and timely decision making. The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree in accounting, at least three years of progressive accounting experience, strong US GAAP knowledge, ERP

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor's degree in Accounting and at least 3 years of accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP and time‑sensitive month‑end close.
• Proficiency with ERP systems and advanced Excel (lookups, pivot tables).

Responsibilities

• Prepare and record month‑end journal entries, including accruals, payroll, fixed assets, and lease accounting under ASC 842
• Maintain the fixed asset roll‑forward, including additions, disposals, and depreciation
• Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and perform detailed analysis of assigned accounts in accordance with the close calendar
• Manage the property tax accounting process, including coordination with third‑party consultants
• Analyze location‑level financial results and explain variances and fluctuations to management
• Account for rebate programs, including accrual estimates, tracking, and true‑ups
• Perform bank matching in NetSuite and create monthly deposits using third‑party vendor data
