Whether you're taking an order at the counter, pulling product from the cooler, or keeping the workspace clean and organized, your work makes a real difference every shift.If you enjoy a fast-paced food service environment, take pride in quality, and love working with people, we'd love to have you on our team.**What You'll Do**No two shifts are exactly the same, but here's what you can expect:* Deliver outstanding customer service by greeting every customer with a smile, taking orders at the Hy-Chi counter, and assisting them with their needs throughout the store* Review orders for the day and ensure an adequate food supply is ready and on hand by developing or following a production list* Prepare, finish, and replenish product as necessary and pull product from the cooler or freezer to prepare for cooking* Review the status and appearance of food for freshness and maintain quality standards throughout the shift* Check in product, put product away, and review invoices as needed* Run the department register, receive payment, and make change as applicable* Practice proper sanitation procedures and keep the work area clean, neat, and safe at all times* Remove trash in a timely manner and wash dishes as necessary* Order product and supplies and price product for customers as needed* Answer the phone promptly and provide friendly, helpful service to customers who call, including taking customer orders* Follow Hy-Vee's dress code, hygiene standards, and all department and company guidelines* Pitch in with other tasks or special projects as they come up**Your Skills**You don't need extensive experience for this role; we'll provide the training you need to succeed. To hit the ground running, you'll need to be able to:* Bring commitment to Hy-Vee's mission and a genuine passion for helping customers* Follow written and verbal instructions carefully and with attention to detail* Apply basic math skills including simple addition, subtraction, counting, and recording* Communicate clearly with customers and co-workers and contribute positively to the team* Learn and apply proper sanitation, food safety, and department procedures**Reporting Relationships****Accountable and Reports to:** Store Director; Store Manager; Assistant Managers of Store Operations, Perishables, Health Wellness Home; Hy-Chi Department Manager; Assistant Hy-Chi Department Manager; Service Managers**Education and Experience*** High school diploma or equivalent experience* Up to six months of similar or related experience; we'll provide all the training you need to succeed**Physical Requirements*** Frequently stand and walk throughout a shift in sales, food service, or delivery areas* Where applicable to the role: ability to safely use sharp knives and blades for food preparation* Where applicable to the role: exposure to heat- and burn-related hazards associated with cooking, baking, or grilling equipment* Where applicable to the role: ability to operate a delivery vehicle in accordance with applicable DOT standards* Perform repetitive standing, walking, reaching, and bending associated with order fulfillment, POS transactions, and cleaning/sanitation duties**Working Environment**This is a fast-moving role with significant pressure to meet demands throughout your shift. You'll work in the Hy-Chi department and can expect regular exposure to flour, dust, noise, and temperature extremes, as well as occasional exposure to cleaning chemicals and solvents.
