Job summary

Sundt-2 is seeking a skilled heavy equipment operator to safely operate a range of machinery including backhoes, excavators, dozers, loaders, graders, haul trucks, and water trucks. You will perform pre-shift walkarounds and preventative maintenance to ensure safe operation.

Key responsibilities include maintaining good relationships on site, delivering high quality work safely, providing feedback to ensure tools and information are available, seeking improvements, and eliminating waste.

Qualifications

  • Must understand drawings, specifications, safety and quality standards.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Minimum experience in industrial/construction equipment operation (3–6+ years).

Job description

Job Summary

Safely operates a variety of heavy equipment, not limited to; backhoes, excavators, dozers, loaders, graders, haul trucks, dump trucks, water trucks. Will be responsible for preventative maintenance and pre-shift walk around of the assigned equipment to assure safe operation.

  7. Inspect subordinates work, ensure accuracy and compliance with plans and specifications, explain deficiencies and take any necessary corrective action.
  8. Eliminate WASTE such as waiting, rework, transporting, material storage and time.
Minimum Job Requirements
  1. Must have a minimum of three years (level I), four years (level II), five years (level III) and six plus years’ experience in the industrial/commercial construction industry and have an in-depth understanding of the operation of various types of heavy construction equipment.
  2. Must be able to read and understand drawings, specifications, safety and quality standards and effectively utilize all trade tools and equipment relevant to the work.
  3. Possess effective verbal and written communication skills.

Physical Requirements
  1. Work up to a 12 hour shift doing hard physical work in varying temperatures and outside conditions.
  2. Will climb and maintain balance on steel/wood framework, stairs, ladders and scaffolds.
  3. Will lift, push or pull objects up to 50lbs. on an occasional basis.
  4. Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects on a frequent basis.
  5. Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures.
  6. May reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basis.
  7. May stoop, kneel, or bend, on an occasional basis.
  8. Ability to wear personal protective equipment is required (including but not limited to; steel toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hardhat, vest, etc.)
  9. Move in and around confined, cluttered and uneven areas.
