SAFEbuilt is seeking a Structural Engineer Plans Examiner in New York. This role involves reviewing plans for compliance with the Florida Building Code and ensuring the safety and structural integrity of various projects.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in a High Velocity Hurricane Zone (HVHZ) or willingness to complete required training.
• 3–5 years of experience in structural plan review or related work.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Review structural plans and documentation for compliance.
• Verify compliance with the Florida Building Code.
• Prepare detailed plan review comments.
• Communicate with architects and contractors about findings.
• Participate in meetings to resolve technical issues.

Skills

Knowledge of structural engineering principles

Familiarity with the Florida Building Code

Ability to read complex construction drawings

Excellent communication skills

Attention to detail

Project management skills

Proficiency with electronic permitting systems

Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office)

Education

Florida Professional Engineer (PE) License in Structural Engineering

Civil Engineering License (issued prior to March 1993)
