Job summary

Woodland Park Zoo is seeking a journey-level Refrigeration HVACR specialist to install, maintain and repair HVACR systems onsite. The role demands strong diagnostic skills, adherence to safety protocols, and readiness to handle emergencies 24/7 when needed.

You will work a Monday–Friday schedule from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with weekend on-call coverage for on-site critical equipment issues. The position is represented by the union and located in Washington state.

Qualifications

• Four years of experience in operation and maintenance of HVACR systems plus two years of HVACR coursework.
• Refrigeration Mechanic’s License class A is required.
• EPA CFC Universal Certification is required.
• Washington State HVAC/Refrigeration Electrician Specialty license is required.
• Must live and work in Washington State and have a valid WA driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Operates, maintains, repairs or replaces chillers, heat pumps, boilers, and related HVACR equipment.
• Maintains electrical control circuits and direct digital control systems.
• Responds to routine and emergency HVAC calls.
• Monitors systems via direct digital control and makes adjustments as needed.
• Plans preventive and corrective work and maintains parts stock.
• Reads blueprints and drawings for troubleshooting and planning.
• Coordinates duties with skilled trades.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
