Job summary

Tech24 is seeking an HVACR Jr. Technician in Decatur, IL and surrounding areas to support senior technicians with servicing and maintaining commercial HVAC and refrigeration systems.

This entry-level role offers hands-on training, mentorship, and growth opportunities within the Tech24 network. You will perform preventative maintenance, learn from experienced technicans, and gain exposure to walk-in coolers, rooftop units, and ventilation equipment while upholding safety standards and exceptional

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in commercial HVAC and refrigeration service.
• Ability to install, wire, and troubleshoot electrical components.
• EPA Universal Certification preferred.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Own hand tools and reliability.
• Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation.

Responsibilities

• Assist senior technicians with diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing commercial HVAC and refrigeration equipment.
• Perform preventative maintenance and routine service tasks under guidance.
• Support equipment installations and component replacements as directed.
• Learn to read wiring diagrams, technical manuals, and blueprints.
• Accurately document service calls, parts used, and labor hours in the company system.
• Communicate professionally with customers while shadowing senior technicians.
• Follow EPA, safety, and company compliance standards.
• Maintain tools, truck inventory, and job site cleanliness.
• Participate in ongoing technical training and development programs.
• Assist with emergency service calls alongside experienced technicians as needed.

Position Summary

As part of the ESI team and broader Tech24 network, the HVACR Jr Technician supports senior technicians in servicing and maintaining commercial HVAC and refrigeration equipment. This role is ideal for someone early in their career who is eager to grow their technical skills through hands-on training and mentorship. The Junior Technician assists with preventative maintenance, basic diagnostics, and repairs while learning company standards, safety practices, and customer service expectations.

Key Responsi bilities

• Assist senior technicians with diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing commercial HVAC and refrigeration equipment including walk-in-coolers/freezers, reach-ins, ice machines, rooftop units, split systems, and ventilation systems
• Perform preventative maintenance and routine service tasks under guidance
• Support equipment installations and component replacements as directed
• Learn to read wiring diagrams, technical manuals, and blueprints
• Accurately document service calls, parts used, and labor hours in the company system
• Communicate professionally with customers while shadowing senior technicians
• Follow EPA, safety, and company compliance standards
• Maintain tools, truck inventory, and job site cleanliness
• Participate in ongoing technical training and development programs
• Assist with emergency service calls alongside experienced technicians as needed

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in commercial HVAC and refrigeration service (trade school or field experience welcomed)
• Ability to install, wire, and troubleshoot electrical components associated with HVAC and refrigeration systems
• EPA Universal Certification preferred
• Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn
• Valid drivers license with a clean driving record required
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or with little supervision
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Ability to lift up to 50+ lbs. and work in varying indoor / outdoor conditions
• Ability to climb ladders, work from heights, and crawl in tight quarters
• Own industry standard hand tools
• Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation as needed

Compensation Transparency

The advertised pay range for this position is $20-$35 per hour. Final compensation will be determined based on factors such as experience level, certifications, skill set, and overall qualifications. Candidates with prior hands-on commercial HVAC and refrigeration experience or relevant technical training may be considered at the higher end of the range.
