Job summary

Johnson Controls Inc. is hiring skilled HVAC Technicians to support the fast-growing North America HVAC business, focusing on air cooled and/or water-cooled chillers, AHUs, and large roof-top units.

The role involves servicing industrial environments with a commitment to safety, training, and delivering customer-focused solutions. You will receive factory certification through our STA, and the company provides tools, uniforms, and a vehicle to perform your work.

Qualifications

• Eight years+ hands-on experience with air/cooled and/or water-cooled chillers or large roof-top units.
• Repair of centrifugal compressors, steam turbines, screw chillers, or ammonia/hydrocarbon systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-level service to solve facility inefficiencies and resolve issues at commissioning and aftermarket service.
• Offer recommendations to ensure facility runs efficiently and identify upsell opportunities.
• Provide quotes to support recommendations and solutions.

How will you do it

We are looking for skilled HVAC Technicians who have experience with air cooled and/or water-cooled chillers, Industrial chillers, AHUs or large roof top ducted units. Preferred experience in Industrial Petro-Chemical, or Data Center vertical environments. Provide our customers with the highest level of service to solve facility inefficiencies and resolve service-related items. As a trusted advisor to our customers, you will provide solutions and outcomes at the time of commissioning and aftermarket service. Provide recommendations and solutions to ensure facility is running efficiently to include upselling opportunities. Provide quotes to support recommendations and solutions.

What we look for

Required

• Minimum of Eight (8) years of practical working experience on air cooled and/or water-cooled chillers, industrial chillers, AHUs or large roof top ducted units with strong HVAC/ mechanical troubleshooting experience.
• Able to repair centrifugal compressors, steam turbines, screw chillers and/or ammonia / hydrocarbon system components.
• Maintain ammonia and hydrocarbon safety training certification.
• Extensive experience in HVAC systems, (Chilled water loops, Pumping, Compressor enthalpy, Compressor trouble shooting and rebuild.
• Mechanical shaft alignment using dial indicators, lasers, etc. of pumps, fans, Compressors.
• Able to use vibration equipment to trouble shoot compressor drivelines.
• Proficient in the operations, trouble shooting and repair of large tonnage chiller 460 vac VSD's.
• You will be required to pass a knowledge examination to assess proficiencies.
• Opportunity to invest in career development. You will enroll in training programs to gain knowledge in HVAC products and sales quoting.
• You will work with other local market mechanics and when necessary, provide on-the-job training.
• Attention to detail through interpersonal, digital, and written skills. Able to write and communicate to the customer problem, cause, and corrective actions.
• Able to provide quotes to customers and participate in JCI's Service Plus Rewards program.
• Self-starter with a passion/ desire to learn and apply on the job.
• Prioritize safety in all forms
• Universal EPA refrigerants license, applicable state or local licensing, and valid driver's license

Pay Range: $38.23 hourly rate rate in MinScale and is negotiable based off skillset level determined by the CBA/rate sheet. Benefits are provided through a local labor union aligned with a collective bargaining agreement. The posted salary range reflects the target compensation for this role.
