What You Will Do

Under general supervision, conduct preventive maintenance, repair, installation, general servicing, and troubleshooting of mechanical HVAC systems. Responsible for high customer satisfaction through direct, on-site interaction. Mentor peers on HVAC installation and service activities. Complete project and service documentation properly. Provide solutions to improve building efficiency and resolve service issues. Act as a trusted advisor to customers, offering solutions and outcomes during service visits.

How You Will Do It

Apprentices follow the local union agreement, performing pneumatic control systems, mechanical equipment service, and other tasks assigned by the employer, within their capabilities and under supervision. Provide recommendations and solutions to enhance facility efficiency, including upselling opportunities, and support with quotes. Conduct routine service and inspections such as changing filters, oiling, greasing, belt replacement, cleaning coils and cooling towers, maintaining solar energy equipment, and addressing indoor air quality issues.

Required Qualifications
  • Membership or willingness to join the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States and Canada, AFL-CIO.
  • Vocational school four-year program or associate degree in mechanical systems, air conditioning, or related field.
  • At least 1 year of industry experience or servicing mechanical HVAC systems.
  • Knowledge of mechanical HVAC systems, facilities management, site prep, and peripheral equipment installation and servicing.
  • Effective interpersonal skills for professional representation and communication of technical info to diverse audiences.
  • Leadership skills to support mechanics on non-critical equipment.
