Job summary

Johnson Controls Inc. is seeking an apprentice to gain HVAC knowledge and hands-on experience on client sites. You'll train on HVAC equipment and controls, participate in STA-certified training, and progress with coaching to troubleshoot both technical issues and customer needs.

Attendance at union training in the first year is required. The role offers on-site work, union-aligned benefits, and opportunities for advancement within a collaborative team focused on building efficiency and customer

Qualifications

• Must be a member or willing to join the United Association… AFL-CIO.
• 1+ years of industry experience or servicing HVAC systems.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills; capable of working with customers and teams.

Responsibilities

• Apprentices will be trained and perform HVAC mechanical equipment and controls on client sites.
• Participate in certified training through Service Technical Academy (STA).
• Develop skills to troubleshoot technical issues and meet customer needs.
• Keep Johnson Controls, contractors, and customers informed of job progress.
• Meet attendance requirements for required Union training in year one.
• Provide recommendations to improve facility efficiency and upsell where appropriate.
• Prepare quotes to support recommendations.

How you will do it

• Apprentices will be trained and will perform on HVAC mechanical equipment and controls on client sites.
• Apprentices will participate in certified training through Service Technical Academy that will build skill sets to provide continued opportunities for recognition, monetary rewards and advancement.
• Through coaching and mentorship, apprentices will develop skills to troubleshoot and resolve both technical issues as well as customer needs.
• You will keep JCI, contractors, and the customer advised of job progress and issues as needed.
• You will meet attendance requirements for required Union training for first year.
• Provide recommendations and solutions to ensure facility is running efficiently to include upselling opportunities.
• Provide quotes to support recommendations and solutions.

What we look for

• Must be a member or willing to join the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States and Canada, AFL-CIO.
• 1+ years of industry experience or experience in servicing mechanical systems in the HVAC industry.
• Generally required knowledge includes mechanical HVAC systems, facilities management systems, site preparation, peripheral equipment installation and servicing techniques
• Effective interpersonal skills to properly represent Johnson Controls to customers and other outside contacts in an ethical and professional manner.
• Leadership skills to support the activities of Mechanics working on non-complex, non-critical mechanical HVAC equipment on a job site
• Self-starter with ability to eventually work independently.
• Prioritize safety in all forms.
• This position requires a valid driver’s license.

Preferred

1-2 years of trade school or college in a technical emphasis.

Pay Range: $24.00 hourly ratedeterminedby the CBA/rate sheet. Benefits are provided through a local labor union aligned with a collective bargaining agreement.
