Under general supervision, is responsible for the installation, maintenance, replacement, and repair of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) equipment and control units; performs related duties as required.
***Currently there is not an active tested eligible list for this classification, therefore, this position will be filled on a PROVISIONAL basis. At such time an examination is given for this position, within two years of hire, the preferred candidate serving in the position provisionally will be required to take the examination. The preferred candidate at that time must pass the exam to continue employment in this position. ***

Three (3) years of experience servicing or repairing heating, ventilation, and air conditioning equipment.Substitution(s):Possession of a Certificate of Completion of Apprenticeship in the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning trade issued by the U.S. Department of Labor or the Ohio State Apprenticeship Council may be substituted for two (2) years of the required experience.
Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator's license.
Possession of a valid Section 608 EPA Certification for Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (Universal) upon completion of the probationary period.
Considerable knowledge of electronic principles; considerable knowledge of refrigeration principles; considerable knowledge of air conditioning principles; considerable knowledge of pneumatic principles; general knowledge of boiler air-fuel ratios and their effect on boiler operational economics; general knowledge of safe working practices and procedures including the use of personal protective equipment related to the HVAC trade; general knowledge of chemical effects upon water and plumbing fixtures; ability to use measurement devices related to the trade; ability to operate a computer; ability to climb and remain stable at various heights; ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematic diagrams; ability to calibrate various control devices; ability to operate a motor vehicle; ability to establish and maintain good work relations with others; ability to establish and maintain written records; ability to maneuver various weights; ability to work in tunnels and confined, dirty, dusty areas.
