Job summary

Prestige Air Mechanical Corp in Hackensack, NJ is seeking a motivated, experienced HVAC Technician / Installer to join our team. The ideal candidate will handle residential and commercial installations, maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs and service calls with minimal supervision.

You will install and commission systems, perform ductwork fabrication, read mechanical drawings, test airflow and performance, and work safely with customers and teammates.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Technical/Vocational HVAC training required.
• 4–5 years of hands-on HVAC service and installation experience preferred.
• Must own and provide essential personal hand tools for HVAC service and installation.
• Strong knowledge of residential and commercial HVAC systems, including installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair.
• Ability to read and interpret HVAC mechanical drawings and specifications.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Strong communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Install, assemble, and commission residential and commercial HVAC systems and equipment.
• Assist with all phases of HVAC installation, replacement, and start-up.
• Perform ductwork fabrication and installation for residential and commercial applications.
• Install and connect HVAC equipment, piping, ductwork, controls, and related components.
• Read, interpret, and execute HVAC drawings, plans, and specifications.
• Verify proper operation, airflow, system performance, and equipment functionality.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Follow all applicable safety procedures, codes, and manufacturer specifications.
• Work effectively with other technicians, installers, contractors, and team members.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and service residential and commercial HVAC systems.
• Perform preventive maintenance and routine service on HVAC equipment.
• Identify electrical, mechanical, refrigeration, airflow, and control-system issues.
• Perform equipment repairs and component replacements as needed.
• Explain system issues, repairs, and recommendations clearly to customers.
• Provide professional and courteous customer service on every service call.

Service & Maintenance Responsibilities

• Perform equipment repairs and component replacements as needed
• Properly use HVAC diagnostic tools and testing equipment
• Explain system issues, repairs, and recommendations clearly to customers
• Provide professional and courteous customer service on every service call
• Complete service documentation, job notes, and required paperwork accurately
• Respond to emergency and after-hours service calls when scheduled

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Technical/Vocational HVAC training required
• 4–5 years of hands-on HVAC service and installation experience preferred
• Must own and provide essential personal hand tools for HVAC service and installation
• Strong knowledge of residential and commercial HVAC systems, including installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair
• Ability to read and interpret HVAC mechanical drawings and specifications
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
• Strong communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team while meeting schedules and deadlines
• Reliable, professional, safety-conscious, and physically capable of working in residential and commercial environments, including varying weather conditions

Preferred Skills & Certifications

• EPA 608 Certification
• Experience with residential and commercial heating and cooling equipment
• Experience with heat pumps, air conditioners, furnaces, rooftop units, boilers, and related HVAC equipment
• Electrical troubleshooting experience
• Knowledge of HVAC controls and thermostats
• Ductwork fabrication and installation experience
• Ability to use hand tools, power tools, meters, gauges, and HVAC diagnostic equipment
