Job summary

McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. is seeking a full-time HVAC Technician for our commercial team in Phoenix, AZ. The role emphasizes safety, reliability, and delivering high-quality service.

Responsibilities include diagnosing and repairing HVAC systems, maintaining equipment, and coordinating with senior staff to deliver client-focused solutions in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of relevant technical experience or training.
• Journeyman License preferred.
• Ability to read technical docs and blueprints.
• Experience with RTUs, boilers, AHUs, chillers, pumps, and related equipment.
• Knowledge of safety guidelines and proper tool use.
• Familiarity with controls, automation, and HVAC systems.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair HVAC systems and components.
• Maintain tools, supplies, and equipment in safe condition.
• Prepare documentation for reports and communication.
• Respond to emergencies to resolve heating/cooling and plumbing issues.
• Operate HVAC and related systems and startups.
• Build strong client relationships and deliver solutions.
• Coordinate tasks under supervision of experienced staff.
• Mentor apprentices and promote safe practices.

Responsibilities

• Diagnosing and repairing HVAC systems and components.
• Maintains tools, supplies and/or equipment for the purpose of ensuring the availability of items and equipment are in safe operating condition.
• Prepares documentation for written support and conveying information appropriately.
• Responds to emergency situations to resolve heating/cooling and plumbing issues.
• Operates heating/air conditioning and refrigeration systems and related equipment, equipment startups.
• Create exceptional client experiences through strong relationships, knowledge of their business, and an ability to deliver impactful solutions.
• Coordinates own tasks with a specific range of responsibilities under established procedures.
• Contributes to a team under general supervision of an experienced professional or manager.
• Skilled specialist that demonstrates reliable judgment in resolving issues and making recommendations.
• Promote a positive learning environment in mentoring and directing of apprentices.
• Understand and implement lockout/tag-out procedures for safe and secure task(s)

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years' relevant technical training or equivalent work-related experience
• Journeyman License preferred
• Comprehends technical information and blueprints for quick execution.
• Experience with RTU's, Boilers, MAU's, AHU's, Fans, Pumps, Cooling Towers, VAV/FPB's, Automation Systems, Chillers, Hydronic Systems, DX Cooling circuits and components.
• Demonstrates understanding of McCarthy Safety Guidelines and Procedures.
• Exceptional safety knowledge of tools, testing devices and surroundings.
