Job summary

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools in Charlotte, North Carolina seeks an HVAC Mechanic I to perform entry-level semi-skilled and technical work on HVAC systems. Under general supervision, you will install, maintain and repair refrigeration, heating, ventilation and air conditioning equipment across school facilities.

You should have a High School diploma or GED, some verifiable HVAC experience, and HVAC diploma/certificate preferred. PC skills and controls experience are also valued.

Qualifications

• High School diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Some verifiable HVAC experience.
• HVAC diploma, certificate or equivalent preferred.
• HVAC system monitoring and controls experience, as well as PC skills preferred.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to state, federal, and local laws, policies, and procedures.
• Assist in repair and maintenance of heating, ventilation, evaporative cooling and air conditioning systems.
• Inspect and test HVAC equipment to ensure proper functioning.
• Install and repair valves, thermostats, fans, pumps and related components.
• Perform preventative maintenance on equipment throughout district facilities.
