Job summary

S.M. Lawrence in Jackson, TN is seeking an HVAC Technician Helper to support our service technicians in maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing commercial equipment. You will work on split systems, rooftop units, heat pumps and related controls, following safety procedures and documentation requirements.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• 1 or more years’ experience performing preventative maintenance and troubleshooting tasks on commercial mechanical equipment preferred.
• EPA universal certification preferred
• OSHA 10 hour preferred

Responsibilities

• Assist with performing HVAC maintenance and troubleshooting tasks safely in commercial/industrial settings on split systems, packaged rooftops, rooftop units, heat pumps, DX systems, pneumatic/electrical control systems and other mechanical equipment.
• Assist with preventative maintenance tasks and repair of commercial HVAC equipment as needed.
• Assist with diagnosing causes of breakdowns, test parts with appropriate instruments, disassemble and assemble parts, and make necessary repairs to equipment and associated components.
• Use HVAC skills to assist with troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining medium to large sized complex heating and cooling systems and associated control systems.
• Utilize electrical and mechanical diagnostic tools to maintain systems.
• Complete required electronic documentation daily on a handheld device.
• Work independently, and as part of a team, to complete assigned tasks within an allotted time frame.
• Perform other related duties or special projects, as assigned

Education

High school diploma or equivalent preferred

1+ years—experience in preventative maintenance & troubleshooting on commercial mechanical equipment preferred

EPA universal certification preferred

OSHA 10 hour preferred

As an HVAC Technician Helper, you will work alongside our HVAC service technicians to perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of commercial equipment.

Compensation aspects of the role are dependent upon knowledge, skills and experience.

Education, Training, Licenses and/or Certifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• 1 or more years’ experience performing preventative maintenance and troubleshooting tasks on commercial mechanical equipment preferred
• EPA universal certification preferred
• OSHA 10 hour preferred

• Maintain a positive, cooperative and teachable attitude
• Requires basic mechanical aptitude, mathematical and English language skills.
• Complies and promotes company Safety Policy
• Initiative; self-motivated (driven), self-starter.
• Regular and punctual attendance. Ability to work overtime if needed (and approved)
• Ability to stand, squat, bend, stoop and comfortably lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to pass a full background screening and drug screening
• Ability to pass MVR check (if applicable) or must have reliable transportation
• Ability to pass a physical ability test
• Ability to travel, as needed, for projects
