POSITION SUMMARY
The HVAC Technician provides quality HVAC maintenance and service duties involving HVAC systems on Wheeler Clinic properties as assigned. The HVAC Technician works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. This position reports to the Facilities Director.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS
High School diploma or equivalent plus 2-5 years experience in HVAC related field is required. Must have a thorough knowledge of HVAC systems, repairs and parts. Must have experience in trouble shooting and diagnostic testing.
Must have a valid CT driver’s license.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs maintenance and service repairs on commercial and/or residential heating, ventilating, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems.
Installs new units or replacement parts for existing units according to specifications and established safety guidelines.
Maintains and secures a spare parts inventory including basic maintenance hand and power tools.
Completes daily Maintenance Work Orders as assigned by supervisor.
Submits all completed work orders to supervisor with signature, date completed, any notes, and/or receipts justifying expenditure for materials/supplies.
Organizes material list to minimize the number of trips to vendors for supplies.
Participates in on call rotation and responds to after hour emergency repairs as directed by supervisor.
Identifies any safety hazards while completing routine work orders and repairs immediately.
Maintains proper care of departmental tools and assigned company vehicle.
Completes special HVAC related projects (renovations, new program openings, office closures, licensing and Joint Commission inspections, etc) as directed.
Handles minor plumbing, and minor electrical issues as assigned.
This position must report to work when Wheeler is closed due to inclement weather to provide snow removal or other assigned duties.
Continues to develop knowledge and understanding about the history, traditions, values, family systems, and artistic expression of groups served as well as uses appropriate methodological approaches, skills, and techniques that reflect an understanding of culture.
