Job summary

HES Facilities Management seeks an experienced Journeyman HVAC technician to support educational facilities in the Columbus area. You will operate and repair chiller and boiler systems, perform routine and major maintenance, and diagnose HVAC controls within building automation networks.

The role requires a strong background in commercial HVAC, five years of experience, and the ability to work on-call. A valid driver's license and basic hand tools are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent experience.
• 2-year military, vocational or apprentice HVAC training.
• Five years' experience in commercial HVAC.
• Technical/educational skills in HVAC systems.
• Troubleshoot using analytical skills.
• Must possess a valid state driver’s license.
• Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and basic hand tools.
• Must understand Lockout Tagout procedures.
• Basic CMMS and BAS knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Operate and repair heating and ventilating equipment and controls as assigned.
• Perform major and routine maintenance, service and repair of HVAC equipment.
• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on all HVAC equipment and controls.
• Operate diagnostic checks on HVAC equipment and controls.
• Maintain and calibrate heating and ventilating controls and BAS.
• Respond to alarms and troubleshoot problems.
• On-call duties as required.
• Support other trades when needed.
• Record work on maintenance management system.
