Job summary

Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA) is seeking an HVAC Technician to operate, maintain, repair and install HVAC systems and related components at the Prince William/153 location. The role is full-time with a 6:00 AM–2:30 PM schedule, and may require emergency duties.

Key duties include diagnostics, preventive maintenance, seasonal startup/shutdown, and troubleshooting wiring and controls. A valid driver’s license, refrigeration certificate, and building automation experience are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of maintenance, repair, and replacement of HVAC equipment.
  • Ability to repair and maintain HVAC components including air handling units, boilers, pumps, and controls.
  • Ability to read and follow instructions and work with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Perform regular diagnostics and preventive maintenance to ensure operational HVAC systems.
  • Coordinate seasonal startup and shutdown.
  • Complete preventative maintenance tasks promptly and efficiently.
  • HVAC maintenance and repair; troubleshoot faults in wiring, relays, and controllers.
  • Keep an inventory of HVAC supplies and inform supervisor of quantities on hand.
  • Support emergency operations when needed.
