Qualifications

Job description

Starting pay: $27.20 per hour.

Essential Job Functions

• Assists in the general operations and maintenance of the mechanical, HVAC, and associated systems to achieve a smooth operating environment for all faculty, staff, and students.
• Reads and records operating characteristics of various heating, air conditioning, and gas distribution systems.
• Services and maintains HVAC systems, including the use and management of CFC compounds.
• Performs maintenance on all aspects of building operating systems.
• Assists in performing equipment audits and establishing and completing preventive maintenance programs.
• Troubleshoots and repairs operating equipment and controls related to building operating systems.
• Assists in the installation, connection, and disconnection of electrical devices, managing all voltages and troubleshooting electrical lines and equipment associated with HVAC equipment.
• Serves and maintains emergency powered generators.
• Serves as an on‑call person during designated periods to respond to emergencies outside normal working hours in compliance with the Facilities Management On‑Call and Overtime Policies.
• Enforces and adheres to standard safety precautions.
• Attends all mandatory training.
• Demonstrates an appreciation for and sensitivity to a diverse academic community, fostering an inclusive environment for students, faculty, and staff from a variety of backgrounds.
• Acts as a critical personnel presence during inclement weather and all other emergencies on campus.
• Makes additional required duties (marginal job functions) as assigned.
• Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check.

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or GED equivalent required.

• Valid license or certification in CFC, electrical, or a similar trade required; must obtain a CFC license within a specified period if not already held.

Knowledge and Skills

• General mechanical aptitude and ability to solve complex mechanical problems on an emergency basis.
• Experience in copper brazing.
• Self‑motivated.
• Understanding of mechanical controls.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to stand, walk, climb stairs and ladders, turn, stoop, crouch, and lift objects exceeding 50 pounds.
• Mobility on campus required.
