FULL TIME HVAC Technician positions available. We are an EEO employer, a family owned business that has been servicing South Florida for over 40 years. Total Appliance and A/C Repairs, Inc. is looking for long-term commitments with good candidates for various positions. We offer a comprehensive incentive package, and we are looking for immediate hire.

The HVAC Technician is responsible for performing installs, repairs and maintenance to a variety of equipment including refrigeration, air conditioning, electric motors, heating units, heat pumps, compressors, pumps, cooling towers, rooftop equipment, building automation and variable frequency drives. 100% Outside Air experience a plus. Must have the ability to rig and move motors and compressors for replacement.

Responsibilities
  • Analyze, plan, and perform preventive maintenance of HVAC systems if assigned.
  • Plan shutdowns for maintenance and repair pumps including chill water, heating water and condensation pumps.
  • Troubleshoot, repair and make modifications to HVAC systems.
  • Adhere to all city, state, and federal regulatory statutes.
  • Order and maintain parts needed to repair and maintain HVAC equipment.
  • Properly maintain and safeguard all company assets.
  • Able to read electrical schematics and mechanical blueprints.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to follow company policies and procedures.
  • Ability to organize work and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to wire routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Understands and has mastered refrigeration cycles, identifying components in advanced refrigeration circuits, diagnosing and correcting problems, using manifold gauge sets, pressure/temperature charts, and temperature measuring devices.
  • Understands refrigeration recovery, evacuation and charging, installation and sizing of refrigerant piping.
  • Understands heating cycle, diagnosing problems using gas pressure tests and other devices.
  • Understands electron theory, AC/DC currents, single-phase and three-phase circuits, series and parallel circuits, reading advanced wiring diagrams, knowledge of Ohm's Law, using multimeters.
  • Understands fundamentals of temperature and humidity measurement and control in air conditioning units, using psychrometric charts.
  • Understands all types of HVAC systems and operation of components in air-cooled, water-cooled, hot water, chilled water systems.
  • Knowledge of advanced heat load/loss calculations.

Qualifications and Educational Requirements
  • High School or GED (preference to Technical School graduates).
  • EPA Universal Certification required.
  • HVAC Certification a plus.
  • 5 years of verifiable experience as HVAC Technician required.
Physical Demands

Ability to lift and/or carry moderate weight (15-50 pounds), sit, stand, walk, climb stairs, reach, repetitive hand motions, hear, speak, some travel within the district and occasionally outside the district/county, may experience prolonged and irregular work hours, and work with frequent interruptions.

Other Requirements

Must have satisfactory outcome of background and fingerprinting check, and drug screening prior to starting employment.
