BASIC SCOPE/PURPOSE
Responsible for smooth operation, maintenance, and repair of air conditioning, refrigeration, ventilation, and related systems. Performs these duties safely and in a timely manner with the highest quality possible.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Ability to troubleshoot, repair, diagnose, and maintain related HVAC equipment, chillers, water source equipment, electric heaters, etc.
- Must have knowledge of AHU, RTU, EF, chillers, boilers, duct systems, and line sets.
- Must have experience with test and balancing, ductwork, parts procurement, and recordkeeping.
- Previous experience with new equipment installation and start-up for equipment.
- Ability to communicate clearly with clients.
- Inspect all systems to detect problems and then repair them.
- Conduct regular maintenance and service of HVAC equipment and maintain records of the same.
- Use hand tools to install, connect, and adjust thermostats, humidistats, and timers.
- Repair or replace defective equipment, components, or wiring.
- Join pipes or tubing to equipment and to fuel, water, or refrigerant source, to form a complete circuit.
- Fabricate, assemble, and install duct work and chassis parts, using portable metal-working tools and welding equipment.
- Test electrical circuits and components for continuity, using electrical test equipment.
- Disassemble systems and clean and oil parts.
- Assemble, position, and mount heating or cooling equipment, following blueprints.
- Test pipe or tubing joints and connections for leaks, using a pressure gauge or soap-and-water solution.
- Install auxiliary components to heating-cooling equipment, such as expansion and discharge valves, air ducts, pipes, blowers, dampers, flues, and stokers, following blueprints.
- Adjust system controls to the setting recommended by the manufacturer to balance the system, using hand tools.
- Inspect and test the system to verify if the system is compliant with plans and specifications and to detect malfunctions.
- Inspect inoperative equipment to locate the source of trouble.
- Study blueprints to determine the configuration of heating or cooling equipment components.
- Using electrician hand tools, layout and connect electrical wiring between the controls and equipment, according to the wiring diagram.
- Reassemble equipment and start unit to test operation.
- Procure spare parts for replacement.
- Comply with all safety rules and regulations for repairing systems.
- Handle refrigerant removal in accordance with all local, state, and federal regulations.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must have prior HVAC experience in all aspects of commercial and industrial HVAC including copper and duct work.
- Must be able to read, write, and communicate clearly with supervisor/co-workers and understand direction from supervisor/client.
- Must be able to utilize basic math, use a calculator, read a tape measure, and operate precision measuring equipment.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, climb, bend, twist, stand, and reach repetitively, operate moving equipment, and work in hot/cold/damp/cramped environments.
- Must be able to work at heights up to 50 feet.
- Candidate are required to pass a drug test and Criminal background check based on job location/requirements.
