Job summary

Ultipro is seeking an HVAC Technician to perform day-to-day operations and preventive maintenance on building automation systems in government healthcare facilities. You will troubleshoot, repair, and install various HVAC components, read blueprints, and ensure adherence to safety requirements.

The role requires the ability to pass background checks and obtain government security clearances, with focus on responding to issues across a range of equipment and systems.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 1 year of related HVAC/Building Automation experience preferred.
• Must pass background check and obtain government security clearances.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints.
• Must obtain and maintain required certifications.

Responsibilities

• Performs day to day HVAC and Building Automation maintenance in Government Healthcare Facilities.
• Performs preventive and unscheduled maintenance on HVAC/Building Automation systems.
• Troubleshoots and repairs HVAC/Building Automation devices and systems.
• Mounts compressor and condenser units per blueprints/engineering specs.
• Installs evaporator units in chassis or air-duct systems and works with refrigerant lines.
• Connects components to control panels and verifies proper operation.
• Tests joints for leaks and replaces defective electrical components.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Primary Job Functions

• Performs day to day operations for HVAC and Building Automation maintenance in Government Healthcare Facilities
• Performs preventive maintenance and unscheduled maintenance on a variety of HVAC and Building Automation systems
• Troubleshoots and repairs a variety of HVAC and Building Automation systems and devices
• Mounts compressor and condenser units on platform or floor, using hand tools, following blueprints or engineering specifications.
• Installs evaporator unit in chassis or in air-duct system, using hand tools.
• Cuts and bends tubing to correct length and shape, using cutting and bending equipment and tools. Cuts and threads pipe, using machine-threading or hand-threading equipment. Join tubing or pipes to various refrigerating unitsby means ofsleeves, couplings or unions, and solders joints, using torch, forming complete circuit for refrigerant. Installs expansion and discharge valves in circuit.
• Connects motors, compressors, temperature controls, humidity controls and circulating ventilation fans to control panels and connects control panels to power source. Installs air and water filters in completed installation. Injectssmallamountsof refrigerant into compressor to test systems and adds freon gas to build up prescribed operating pressure. Observes pressure and vacuum gauges and adjusts controls toensureproper operation.
• Tests joints and connections for gas leaks, using gauges or soap-and-water solution. Wraps pipes in insulation batting andsecurethem in place with cement or wire bands.Replacedefective breaker controls, thermostats, switches,fusesand electrical wiring to repair installed units, using electrician's hand tools andtest equipment. May install, repair and service air conditioners, ranging from fifteen to twenty tons cooling capacity, in warehouses and small factory buildings.
• Performs otherwork-relatedduties as assigned

Education, Experience and Certification

• High School Diploma or equivalent education
• 1 year of related job experience

Working Conditions

• Must be able to lift 50 lbs., squat, bend, stoop and kneel for short periods, climb a ladder, stand forlong periodsof time, constant arm extensions.
• Occasional exposure to elements such as heat, cold, noise, dust, dirt, chemicals, but none to the point of being disagreeable. May involve minor safety hazards where likely result would be cuts, bruises, etc.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Must be able to pass background check andrequiredGovernment security clearances.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints.
• Obtain and maintain required certifications
