Job summary

HumanEdge is seeking an HVAC Technician to perform a range of maintenance tasks on heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems at our facilities in New Jersey. The role includes repairs, replacements and troubleshooting of HVAC equipment, piping and controls, with emphasis on safety and reliability.

The position requires a minimum of three years of HVAC experience, NJ Low Pressure Boiler License (or ability to obtain within six months), a valid driver’s license and strong customer service

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum of three years' experience in HVAC maintenance.
• Experience or knowledge of repair, replacement or troubleshooting related to HVAC trade.
• New Jersey Black Seal Low Pressure Boiler License or ability to obtain within 6 months is mandatory.
• Valid driver's license.
• Formal training and experience in mechanical or plumbing.
• Experience with copper tubing, fittings and threaded pipe.
• Familiar with tools, gauges and meters used in HVAC work.
• Excellent customer service and attention to detail.
• Ability to read, speak and write English effectively for safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Repair and installation of HVAC facilities, chilled water, hot water, and air distribution systems.
• Repair and replace piping systems (hot water, chilled water, compressed air).
• Assemble, install and repair fittings and fixtures of heating, water, chilled water, and refrigeration equipment.
• Order materials as needed and perform troubleshooting on hot water heaters and heat exchangers.
• Maintain HVAC equipment and troubleshoot all systems and controls.
• Repair pumps, motors and drives; operate boilers and chillers at the central plant.
• Weekends, overtime, and emergency work may be required.

Under the direct supervision of the Buildings and Grounds Manager, the HVAC Maintenance Mechanic performs varies maintenance work. Overall general maintenance skills are required. The role will be assigned to perform repairs or replacement of parts on mechanical equipment in areas of heating, plumbing, air conditioning and ventilation.

• Repair and installation of HVAC facilities, chilled water, hot water, and air distribution systems.
• Repair and replace piping systems (hot water, chilled water, compressed air).
Repair and replace HVAC piping, valves, controls, and ductwork.
• Assembles, installs, repairs fittings and fixtures of heating water chilled water and refrigeration equipment as needed.
• Order material as needed.
• Trouble shooting skills in hot water heaters and heat exchangers.
• Maintenance of heating, ventilation and air conditioning equipment.
• Trouble shoots all HVAC systems and controls.
• Repair, & trouble shoot pumps, motors and drives.
• Operate commercial boilers and chillers at central plant.
• Removal of snow and operation of snow removal equipment.
• Weekends, overtime hours and emergency work will be required.

Requirements

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
• Minimum of three (3) years' experience.
• Prior experience or knowledge of repair, replacement or trouble shooting related to HVAC trade.
• New Jersey Black Seal Low Pressure Boiler License or ability to obtain one within 6 months is mandatory.
• Valid driver's license.
• Requires formal training and experience in mechanical or plumbing.
• Experience in use of copper tubing, fittings and threaded pipe.
• Must be familiar with all types of tools, gauges and meters necessary to perform the duties.
• Excellent customer service skills and attention to detail are required.
• Ability to effectively read, speak and write English to communicate effectively with the college community and understand standard safety protocols.
• Knowledge of plumbing codes a plus.
