HVAC Tech I — PRIDE Industries

Salary: $26.18 hr. | Status: Onsite

Position Summary

Under general supervision, the HVAC I (Heating, Ventilating, and Air Conditioning) I technician performs various technical work repairing, replacement, and installation of HVAC equipment to include furnaces, heat pumps, package units, split systems, ranging from residential HVAC/R equipment to light commercial equipment. Duties also consist of performing maintenance and being knowledgeable on the fundamentals of refrigeration equipment.

Typical Duties
  • Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain various residential and light commercial HVAC equipment.
  • Cut and bend tubing to correct length and shape.
  • Utilize skills in plumbing, mechanical, electrical, HVAC and refrigeration systems.
  • Observe and interpret refrigeration pressures and vacuum gauges and adjust controls to ensure proper operation. Able to perform recovery and vacuum.
  • Test joints and connections for gas leaks.
  • Wrap pipes in insulation batting and secure them in place.
  • Replace defective controls, fuses, and electrical wiring to repair installed units.
  • Repair and replace residential and light commercial evaporative A/C units.
  • Repair and replace residential and light commercial heating systems.
  • Ensure PRIDE safety policies and procedures are followed.
  • Respond to emergency calls after work hours.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
  • One to three years of field experience servicing residential and light commercial HVAC equipment.
  • Able to use industry hand and machine tools (e.g. vacuum pumps, refrigeration gauges).
  • Ability to read, interpret and work from schematics and written instructions.
  • Proficient in electrical troubleshooting (i.e. single phase and three phase motors, compressors, contactors, relays and sensors).

  • EPA Certification
  • R410A Safety
  • Valid Driver's License
Physical Requirements
  • Maneuvering to, in, and around equipment.
  • Bending, kneeling, stooping and reaching.
  • Climbing steps, tools or ladders.
  • Lifting and moving heavy equipment up to 35 pounds.
  • Climbing ladders to gain access to rooftop equipment.
Work Environment

Work is performed at a customer’s location in office, shop, warehouse, or outdoor environment. May require driving to and from worksite locations. Equipment can be located in crawl spaces, rooftops, and outside facility. Employees may be exposed to hazardous and/or toxic substances, electrical shock, noise from equipment, and depending on external weather conditions, wind, rain, cold, and heat.
