Loma Linda University Health in California is seeking an HVAC Tech 1 to perform various tasks associated with the maintenance, installation, and repairs of HVAC and Refrigeration equipment. The ideal candidate must have at least one year of related experience and meet licensing requirements.
The role demands effective communication, critical thinking, and the ability to work independently while managing multiple assignments. Candidates should possess a valid Driver's License and be prepared to obtain HVAC EPA certification within 90 days of hire.
The HVAC Tech 1 performs a variety of semi-skilled and/or skilled tasks related to preventive maintenance, installation, alterations and repairs of the HVAC and Refrigeration equipment. Performs other duties as needed.
Minimum one year of related experience required.
Able to read, write legibly; speak in English with professional quality; use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). Knowledge of concepts and electrical principles used in AC and refrigeration, including meters circuits, contactors, relays, thermostats, pressure switches, motors, overloads, circuitry and troubleshooting and safe electrical practices. Knowledge of the design, assembly and operation of compression systems, including basic liquid and vapor control, metering devices, design and construction of system piping, techniques of leak detection, dehydration of systems, charging methods, recovery and troubleshooting. Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively and professionally with others; work calmly and respond courteously under pressure; collaborate and accept direction. Able to communicate effectively in English in person, in writing, and on the telephone; think critically; manage multiple assignments effectively; organize and prioritize workload; work well under pressure; problem solve; recall information accurately; pay close attention to detail; work independently with minimal supervision. Able to distinguish colors as necessary; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone, and identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the workplace; see adequately to read computer screens and written documents necessary to the position.
Valid Driver's License required at time of hire. HVAC EPA certification required within 90 days of hire date.
