Job summary

Valleywise Health in Phoenix, AZ is seeking HVAC Technicians to maintain essential hospital systems and ensure a safe, comfortable environment for patients, families, and staff. A $15,000 retention bonus is offered for experienced technicians.

Responsibilities include inspecting, testing, servicing, and repairing HVAC components such as air conditioning units, air handlers, VFDs, and related equipment. Candidates should have an associate degree or equivalent, 5+ years in industrial or hospital

Qualifications

• Requires an associate's degree in HVAC or equivalent training/experience.
• Minimum five years HVAC experience in industrial or hospital settings preferred.
• Valid Arizona driver’s license and EPA refrigerant recovery certification required.
• Fingerprint clearance card required; apply within 7 days of hire and present within 90 days.
• DDC, air balance, and energy management systems training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, test, service, and repair HVAC components including air conditioning units and air handlers.
• Maintain a safe, comfortable environment for patients, families, and staff.
• Follow fire protection, plumbing, OSHA codes and safe work practices.
• Collaborate with facilities team to support hospital operations.
• Demonstrate strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.

Hourly Pay Rate: $25.96 - $38.29

Qualifications

Education:

• Requires an associate's degree in HVAC or a related field oran equivalent combination of training and progressively responsible experience that will result in the required specialized knowledge and abilities to perform the assigned work.

Experience:

• A minimum of five (5) years of HVAC experience in an industrial or hospital setting is preferred.

Specialized Training:

• Advanced training in DDC, air balance, and energy management systems is preferred.

Certification/Licensure:

• Must possess a valid Arizona driver's license.
• EPA-certified refrigerant recovery is required.
• Must have a valid fingerprint clearance card issued by the Arizona Department of Public Safety orsubmit a completed affidavit at the time of hire. Must complete fingerprint clearance card application within seven (7) days of hire date. Must present actual card within 90 days of applying for a fingerprint clearance card.
• A boiler operator certificate is preferred.
• A journeyman's license or 60-credit-hours HVAC certification is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, andAbilities:

• Requires the ability to read, write, and speak effectively in English.
• Must have working knowledge of fire protection, plumbing, and other building systems codes, OSHA requirements, and safe working techniques and procedures.
• Proven ability to perform HVAC maintenance work and follow directions in the daily performance of duties is required.
• Must have the ability to work independently with limited guidance.
• Must have excellent communication, organizing, time management, and interpersonal skills.
• Must be self-motivated and a self-starter.
• Creativity, initiative, independent thinking, and problem-solving skills are strongly preferred.
